London Train Strikes: Your Updated Guide To Rail Action In The City 2023

london train strike information

Your guide on what's happening with the trains, lately.

Train, rail, and tube disruption has become the norm in London, with ASLEF unions, TFL and the RMT in continuous conversation over pay, working conditions job security, as strikes continue to roll out across the nation. With a city harder to navigate, we're sharing more on train strikes near you, and on major networks, as well as great suggestions for things to do nearby, and (coming soon) some hot takes on bus routes with the best of stop-offs for bars, restaurants and cosy pubs

Which London tube lines are striking?

At the moment, we're in luck, no tube strikes are in the near future. However, RMT are currently undertaking a ballot to decide on action, so watch this space.

When are the London train strikes and what networks are going to be affected?

  • 2nd December: East Midlands Railway and LNER.
  • 3rd December: Avanti West Coast, Chiltern, Great Northern Thameslink, and West Midlands Trains.
  • 5th December: C2C and Greater Anglia.
  • 6th December: Southeastern, Southern/Gatwick Express, SWR main, SWR depot and Island Line.
  • 7th December: CrossCountry and GWR.
  • 8th December: Northern and TPT.

How long are strikes expected to last?

Disruption is difficult to predict, and each network has their own expected level of service. We recommend checking each operator's website for the most up-to-date and accurate information available.

When it comes to train strikes overall, while ASLEF has backed a recent 5% pay rise, action is not over yet, so we expect services to see impacted behaviour for the coming months.
